Position: Clinical Psychologist

Emma is a Senior Clinician working at Pathways. Emma has a passion for working with young people and works clinically with families, children and adolescents. Emma completed her studies in Perth at the University of Western Australia. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology with First Class Honours in 2002, a PhD with Distinction in 2007 and a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2009.

Emma’s research background ensures that she has a strong commitment to evidence-based intervention. She was privileged to work in a research capacity with children during her time at the Universities of Oxford and Bristol in the UK. Her research includes work to understand processes involved in face perception, anxiety and child behaviour.

Through her research and clinical work, Emma has developed expert knowledge and practical skills in the psychology of children’s emotional well-being and resilience. She takes a strengths-based approach and aims to empower parents and children by providing information, skills and strategies in an understandable and accessible way.

This might involve helping young people to identify and challenge self-defeating thoughts, develop problem solving skills or encourage children to face their fears. Emma believes that the involvement of parents and families is critical to successful intervention with young people. She is an enthusiastic and problem-focussed clinician who strives to improve the lives of her young clients.
